Information
Karen grew up in Michigan. She, her husband and children lived many years in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, before relocating to Charlotte, North Carolina. They have been Charlotteans for over 20 years.
In her early twenties Karen bought her first camera. It wasn't until later – 20 years later – that she began taking photo classes at Central Piedmont Community College and became more serious about photography.
Currently, much of her time is spent shooting sports, primarily lacrosse but a variety of other sports as well. She is working part-time for Queen's University covering their sports. She contributes regularly to UNC's lacrosse media guides and to Inside Lacrosse.
Her non-sports subjects include flowers and nature. Spending summers in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan on Lake Superior provides a wide range of scenic subject matter. Karen has always enjoyed making her own black and white prints. More recently, she has been creating digital art. Each piece begins with one of her flower photographs.
When not doing photo-related activities, she enjoys jogging, tennis, and especially being a grandmother!
